BISMARCK, December 5, 2010 - Earth-Kind, Inc. was awarded the Business
Partnership Award from Minnesota nonprofit Epic Enterprise at its annual celebration to recognize area business leaders who partner with Epic to help individuals with developmental disabilities actively participate in the community.
The Business Partnership Award recognizes the special efforts by an area business to help job-site workers experience independence within their workday. Kari Warberg Block, Earth-Kind CEO and Troy Flaten, Plant Manager accepted the award. The Earth-Kind team was acknowledged for its close working partnership with Epic focused on providing meaningful, quality employment to people who love their jobs and the contribution they make to Earth-Kind’s success.
“We have been partnering with Epic for three years and are proud to have these fine citizens be a part of our product manufacturing process” said Kari. Linda Hibbard, Epic Executive Director added “Kari and the Earth-Kind team are a delightful example of our business partnerships: a business and people with disabilities, working together, for mutual success.”
Warberg Block’s success as an entrepreneur and product developer were also recently recognized as she was named a finalist in the first annual Vistage International Member Leadership Awards at the National Chief Executive Conference held in November.
Kari was recognized as one of three worldwide finalists in the innovation category. As an innovation finalist, the company leader must have taken on difficult problems or challenged assumptions to innovate or transform a business strategy, product and/or process that created significant business growth. Kari, a member of Vistage International since 2007, is the inventor of the first natural rodent repellent registered for indoor use by the EPA. Fresh Cab® natural rodent repellent eliminates the need for poisons, baits and traps when dealing with rodent issues.
“Kari is committed to creating natural safe and effective products that have a positive impact on agriculture, society and the environment,” stated Jon Jennings, Vistage 3133 chair, who nominated Kari for the honor.
