Nominate a teacher for EarthKind’s Harmony Hero Award

EarthKind® Launches the Year of the Monarch

We are devoting the entire year of 2021 to supporting eco-education initiatives in schools. Teachers across the country have been heroic champions for the long-term social and cognitive benefits of eco-education. We view teachers very much like we view the monarch butterfly, our campaign’s symbol.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (PRWEB) JANUARY 21, 2021

EarthKind®, manufacturers of award-winning plant-based pest prevention products, declares 2021 as the Year of the Monarch. The collaborative effort focuses on recognizing and supporting teachers across the country who inspire K-12 students through eco-education initiatives. Getting outdoors and connecting with nature is proven to make kids happier, healthier and smarter in math, science, the arts, while supporting social development.

Kari Warberg Block, EarthKind® Founder and Chief Harmony Officer (CHO), states, “Our company purpose is to imagine a world in harmony with nature and one another in all the places we live, work, learn and play. That’s why we’ve chosen to devote the entire year of 2021 to supporting eco-education initiatives in schools. Teachers across the country have been heroic champions for the long term social and cognitive benefits of eco-education. Day after day, they prove that getting kids into nature is the best thing we can do for them and for our own future. We view teachers very much like we view the monarch butterfly – our symbol for the campaign. And we plan to bring the amazing work they do alive throughout the year.”

Working together with Natural Habitat Adventures, EarthKind® will sponsor an all-expenses-paid trip to Mexico in March 2022 for one teacher and three guests to visit the Kingdom of Monarchs Habitat. There they will witness the amazing migration of millions of butterflies. Warberg Block comments, “Monarch butterflies, a vital pollinator species, have declined by 90% in the last 20 years. Direct results of climate change, pollution, habitat loss and the use of agricultural pesticides have led a series of pollinator species to spiral in decline, landing many on the endangered and threatened species list. We need to protect our pollinators, every day. Without them, agricultural economies, our food supplies, and surrounding landscapes would collapse. The earth as we know it will not exist.”

Starting in February, EarthKind will select one Harmony Hero applicant each month to receive complimentary in-service training from an entomologist on IPM practices for their school, helping them become safer, healthier places. They’ll also receive a backpack packed with sustainable essentials for eco-education and outdoor adventures.
