Can Getting Rid of Rats & Mice Be Good For the Environment Too?
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.
These 3 R’s of the environment are just 3 small steps we can each take to help make our world a better place. A Native American proverb states, “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” These are words to remember in everything that we do.
EarthKind was created with the goal of finding natural solutions to natural problems. Being kind to the Earth, kind to the people and pets who make and use our products, and offering superior value for the consumer is our mission.
By following the 3 R’s, we are able to stay true to our founding principles. Our products are made with botanical ingredients. Our packaging is minimal, made from recycled materials, and contributing to the 98% biodegradability of the finished product. The packaging our products are shipped in can be reused too. One of our employees let her children reuse the boxes Fresh Cab is shipped in to create art and craft projects. An imaginative 3 year old said she was making a “restaurant house” by gluing construction paper to an old box. Another employee saves the boxes to reuse at Christmas when wrapping clothing, books, and other gifts (extra bonus, they smell like Christmas trees!).
Follow the 3 R’s
Our friends at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have created this helpful guide with tips for practicing the 3 R’s. A few of our favorite tips include:
- Compost organic waste such as coffee grounds, egg shells, fruit and vegetable skins or peels.
- Choose fresh and local food whenever possible. This can reduce waste from packaging as well as pollution created from transporting packaged items.
- Opt out of phone directories and unsolicited promotional mailings.
- Organize a garage sale. This can save many items from being thrown away and put a couple extra dollars in your pocket too!
The tips above are just a small sample of all the ways you can practice the 3 R’s. Please share with us some of the ways you have found to be kind to the Earth we all share. Together we can make a difference!
