Power to the Pollinators: Kari Warberg Block Advocates for Worldwide Pollinator Protection

Kari Warberg Block, long-time environmentalist, pest control expert, farmer and CEO/Founder of award-winning pest prevention brand Earthkind®, urges fellow Mother Earth protectors to raise awareness and to take-action to help declining pollinator populations worldwide.

Pollinators play a critical role in the sustenance of a functional, healthy ecosystem, however direct results of climate change, pollution, habitat loss and the use of agricultural pesticides have led to a series of pollinator species, ranging from butterflies, birds, bats, bees, beetles, moths, flies, wasps and other small mammals, to spiral in decline, landing many on the endangered and threatened species list. In fact, Monarch butterflies have declined by 90% in the last 20 years, and 25% of bumble bee species are thought to be in serious decline.

According to the Pollinator Partnership organization, pollinators are estimated to add around $217 billion dollars to the global economy every year, producing nearly $20 billion worth of products in the U.S. annually.

With the decline of pollinators on the rise, “our food is also on the line,” comments Warberg Block. More than 200,000 species of pollinators are critical to the growth of our food supply, and the Pollinator Partnership organization estimates that pollinators provide one out of every three bites of food we eat.

“Every creature has a purpose, and our precious ecosystem relies on these critters to pollinate plants,” states Warberg Block, “Without pollinators, agricultural economies, our food supplies, and surrounding landscapes would collapse. So, while you may not want them in your home, you certainly want these critters working to sustain our ecosystems and to produce our natural resources by helping plants thrive.”

Instead of killing or poisoning these critters, Warberg Block designed EarthKind® to keep them in their outdoor home, not in yours. Her CEO mantra of “all harmony, no harm” supersedes that of most, inventing products that function to change insect and rodent behavior, rather than kill them. Sourcing the brand’s essential oils and plant fibers from regenerative American family farms, EarthKind’s natural scents are proven to disrupt insects’ olfactory receptors, effectively deterring them from encroaching on certain areas, without compromising their place in our ecosystems.

“At EarthKind, we’re committed to ‘Love Life, Live Kind’ in harmony with all creatures on earth,” comments Warberg Block, “We need to protect our pollinators, every day. Without them, the earth as we know it will not exist. I’m pledging to help make a real change, who’s with me?”

Warberg Block encourages everyone to get involved by reducing, or completely eliminating, pesticide use, by planting pollinator-friendly plants in clusters for pollinators to easily identify, to support local bees and beekeepers by purchasing locally sourced honey, to leave dead tree trunks in your yard for bees and beetles to inhabit, to consciously conserve all resources, and “to always work with Nature, not against it.”
