What Happened to Fresh Cab?

Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent first appeared on store shelves in 2007, after I faced a hell-raising battle with wild mice on our farm. Finding a way to prevent the damage these little invaders caused was just as challenging as the pesky pests themselves! Someone had to do something. So, I invented Fresh Cab. It was the first botanical rodent repellent to earn Federal EPA Registration for professional use!  (getting that done is a story unto itself!)

After celebrating our 10-year anniversary in 2017, we realized it was time to conduct a full review of our flagship product, Fresh Cab. Upon review, it came to our attention that the growing demand for natural solutions had left room for us to improve.

Why was Fresh Cab unavailable?

Pest control is a multibillion-dollar business. Pesticides and lethal traps have been the staples of this industry for decades, with good reason. Rodent infestations cause billions of dollars in damage each year, not to mention serious health risks like hantavirus. Getting rid of pests doesn’t always have to mean killing them, or exposing your family, pets, and the environment to hazardous chemicals.

Taking Fresh Cab off the market for a timeout was a tough decision. Elevating every stakeholder – from the farmers who grow our ingredients, to the federal EPA who reviews our science in great detail, to our employees, the retailers who sell it, and the environmental footprint we leave behind – is vital in our decision-making process.

Fresh Cab Updated PackageMany things have stayed the same:

  • Our ingredients come from family farms.
  • Our products are assembled in the USA, and our workforce creates jobs for the developmentally disabled.
  • We’re USDA BioPreferred with only a 2% carbon footprint.
  • Federal EPA has evaluated all ingredients, suppliers, and processes to ensure public and environmental health, as well as consumer satisfaction.
  • 100% Money Back Guarantee.

The only thing that has changed is that we’ve added new suppliers who meet our guiding principles of: purpose driven, performance oriented, and principles led.

AND, an updated package that takes the guesswork out of getting rid of mice.

We are excited to continue offering the fastest acting, most long lasting, environmentally responsible repellents on the market.

With kindness and gratitude for your continued loyalty,

Kari & Team

  1. Hope Fresh Cab will be officially available in Canada soon. Saw Cab’N Fresh (4 pouches) on Amazon.ca for CDN$39.99, whereas Fresh Cab (4 pouches) is US$19.51 on Amazon.com. I would like to try Fresh Cab, but couldn’t justify the high price.

    • Hi Marco,

Sorry to hear about your difficulty getting Fresh Cab where you live. We continue to work towards international sales, and will share updates as the situation develops. In the meantime, I hope you will find some helpful information and DIY tips in our blog and online resources.

      Thank you for your comments!

    • Hi Fred,
I’m so sorry to hear about your frustrations! We are in the process of getting Fresh Cab back on store shelves in Canada, but the process for international sales is slow-moving and difficult to predict due to pesticide regulations. Please check back as we will share an update when progress has been made.
      Thank you for your patience!

  2. Is there a difference between fresh cab and cab n fresh? Here in Canada we can only get cab n fresh. We used to be able to get fresh cab about 5 years ago.
I’m still using fresh cab which is not available in Canada.
Thanks for your attention to my inquiry

    • Hi Alain,
Cab’n Fresh is an air freshener whereas Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent is considered a pesticide. We intend to make Fresh Cab available in Canada again as soon as possible, but the approval process for international sales is slow-moving and time consuming due to pesticide regulations. Thank you for your patience!

  3. Apparently my mice have never heard of your product. I put Fresh Cab in a cupboard that I built and have my cupboard locked and they still got in there and are working on building a nest not more than 6 inches away from the Fresh Cab. There is no food in the cupboard and it the size of a 12 by 18 box.
